The Seymour Police Department recognized that 4 out of 5 child car seats are installed incorrectly and because of this, many accidents that should have resulted in little to no injuries resulted in significant injuries to young children.
The Seymour Police Department made a commitment to reducing preventable injuries to children by developing the Seymour Police Department Child Car Safety Inspection Unit. This officer in this unit educates the public in how to properly install and use child car seats.
Seymour Police Department has one officer who is a certified Child Car Seat Technician, trained to properly inspect and install child car seats. This officer undergo’s a yearly training to maintain his certification.
The Seymour Police Department Child Car Seat Safety Inspection officer conducts monthly Installation/Inspection clinics by appointment.
